About this event

This free, informal get together for pregnant women living in Islington and their partners/supporters offers the chance to talk through any questions and concerns, particularly around babies' early development after birth and how to feed babies responsively and effectively to support this. Understanding normal newborn behaviour and why it happens helps parents know what to expect – and what not to expect! - from their baby once he or she is here.

Priority is given to Islington residents - if you are out of borough we reserve the right to cancel your booking if the session becomes oversubscribed. If you do not live in the UK, please do not register for this session as the information provided may not be appropriate to local practices in your country - if you are outside the UK your booking will be declined. We recommend joining a session between 30-36 weeks of pregnancy and strongly suggest that you take advantage of some of the further resources via the link provided in your confirmation email before attending. The session is scheduled to last 1.5 hours but you can leave at any time or we can carry on longer if needed!

Breastfeeding Islington (part of Bright Start Islington) is a free service available to all Islington families to support them in their baby feeding choices before and after birth. Support is offered on the postnatal wards at Whittington and UCL hospitals, by telephone and video call, and through online support groups, as well as in-person support in the community where necessary. You can find out more about us at islington.gov.uk/breastfeeding, including specific details of how our service has adapted during the current pandemic.
